Clarence Lee Turnipseed Papers

The collection includes a degree essay titled "Ideal Rational Self," as well as two letters written by Turnipseed to the faculty of the College of William and Mary.  The letters are dated June 5, 1905 and June 8, 1905 and ask if Turnipseed can substitute a couple of his earned diplomas for two classes he failed as 1905 was his last year of school.  The June 8th letter also asks if he can take an examination in Solid Geometery.

Letter from T.W. Harriss, Co. D, 1st Regiment, Tennessee Volunteer, "Col. Mancy Com," Winchester, Va., to "Uncle," no place. Reviews what he has done the past four months. He walked over 1200 miles and lay out in the open air at Bath with the snow six inches deep. He is now partaking of Virginia hospitality to the sick at the cost of $5.00 per week.

Four 10" x 14" sheets of handmade rag paper, made by Twinrocker Handmade paper founders, Kathryn and Howard Clark, while they worked at Collectors Press in San Francisco in 1972. Twinrocker is considered the first modern handmade papers production company in the United States. These sheets are among the first papers handmade by Twinrocker.
