Five Items

This series documents the administration of College of William and Mary President J. A. C. Chandler for the years 1919-1934. The contents are available on microfilm in the library microforms collection on the ground floor of Swem Library. See call number LD6051 .W517 1919 C43, reels 1-46.

Each individual is identifiedy by a letter or letters, which notes their association with William & Mary. The letters are as follows:

A = Alumna or Alumnus

BOV = Board of Visitors

C = Chancellor

FL = First Lady

F/S = Faculty/Staff

P = President

V = Visitor

As some individuals have a long association with W&M, they may have more than one designation.

This collection consists of over 50 letters written by Corporal Anton "Tony" Zeithammel of the 3rd Marine Division while serving in Vietnam. The letters are addressed to his parents in Battle Creek, Michigan, and concern day-to-day military activities and news from home. Most of the original envelopes have been preserved.

Oral history conducted for the 100 Years of Coeducation commemoration. Zella Mervis arrived at William & Mary in 1943. During her time as a student, she was involved in a variety of activities, including Balfour-Hillel, service organization Kappa Chi Kappa, and the German and Spanish Clubs. *Note about the interview: Zella states that she attended William & Mary from 1939 until 1947. She actually attended from 1943 until 1947.*

Galt and Sally were recently very sick. John Williamson has been turned out of his quarters at the Asylum by the new Board of Visitors. Dr. Garrett is now an assistant, and John 's salary is divided between the two of them.

Sends a subscription paper to A System of the laws of Connecticut with advertisement published in John Fenno's paper Gazette of U.S. and Philadelphia Daily Advertiser. Appreciates Page's offer to transmit both to Mr. St. George Tucker. Newspaper clipping enclosed. No endorsement to indicate that Tucker ordered or bought the book.

Williamsburg, Virginia items given by Will Molineux, mostly via the Williamsburg Historic Records Association. Some items are personal papers (newspaper articles, etc.) of Will Molineux. The photograph collection covers the entire Williamsburg area, including James City County and York County. Subjects include people, places, buildings, events, Colonial Williamsburg as well as the College of William & Mary.
