Account books of "Traveller's Rest", a tavern in Louisa Co., Va. Lists individuals, lodging, food and drink, as well as feed for horses.

Letter from T.S. Hodgson, a soldier from Company E, 105th Regiment,  Pennsylvania Volunteers,  to his uncle describing the town of Yorktown, Virginia during the Siege of Yorktown in the American Civil War. He described how he just go out of the hospital, firing shots against the rebels at the pickets, General McClellan as the head of the army, and not receiving a package from his uncle.

Chiefly letters written to Anne Evelina (Hunter) Tucker by her daughter Virginia Sarah (Tucker) Brooke and by Janes S. Tucker. Includes letters written to St. George Tucker Brooke by his father Henry Laurens Brooke and David Tucker Brooke and others.

Papers; 1923-1957; of Robert H. Tucker, professor of economics at Washington and Lee University, who served on Virginia Commission on County Government and the Virginia Commission on State and Local Government. Includes articles, speeches, lectures, reports and other writings concerning Virginia state and local government, tax reform, education, highways, economics, and Washington and Lee University. Most of the material is undated.

Account book of W.T. Tucker.  Many pages have the heading "...BeaverDam."

Photocopies of papers, 1777-1783, from the Washington Papers at the Library of Congress relating to Marquis de La RouÃrie known in the American Revolution as Charles Armand Tuffin. Includes "With Sword in Hand", an English translation by J. D. Hufham of the work published in France under title "Le Marquis de la Rouerie et la Conjuration Bretonne", by G. Lenotre.

Chiefly writings, ca. 1880-1935, of Lyon Gardiner Tyler, historian. Most concern Virginia history in the colonial period, or defend his father, John Tyler, or defend the southern point of view in the Civil War. Includes an unpublished history of the Virginia Line in the American Revolution. Also includes writings, 1921-1951, of his second wife, Sue Ruffin Tyler, and of other authors.

Collection consists of letters, historical sketches, wills, genealogical charts and coats of arms of Virginia families. The majority of these papers are genealogical inquiries made to Lyon Gardiner Tyler. Very few of Tyler's responses are included but the inquiries contain information.

One reel of microfilm for the Register Index for Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co.,1671-1761, is available in the Swem Library Microforms Collection.

Letter written and signed by John Tyler in Charles City, Va. , September 9, 1819 to Robert S. Stanard in Richmond, Virginia concerning a chancery suit between Knib and Dr. Dixon's Exors which had earlier been handled by John Tyler's Father in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Contains a typescript, including proofs of half-tone illustrations loosely inserted, for the book The Virginia Bishop by John Sumner Wood, Sr.  The book is a biography about John Johns, Fourth Bishop of Virginia and President of the College of William and Mary from 1849-1854.
