Mary Ella Garrett Scrapbook, 1935-1936

Scope and Contents The scrapbook was created by Mary Ella Garrett between 1935-1936. Subjects include: William & Mary athletics (specifically football), Alpha Chi Omega, Colonial Williamsburg, and student life.  Included in the scrapbook are newspaper clippings, football programs, Colonial Williamsburg brochures, ephemera, and photographs of Colonial Williamsburg, the William and Mary campus, the Alpha Chi Omega house and members, as well as female students. Iva Rawles Papers

The collection includes Rawles' 1922-1923 student handbook within which are handwritten notes and her class schedule, a panoramic photograph of the student body for 1922-1923, and her 1923 Colonial Echo, which she used as a scrapbook.  The scrapbook includes images of women students at W&M.  There is also an unidentified artifact which features the names of players and games of the 1922-1923 varsity football team.

The bulk of the collection is correspondence from H. Reid (Harold Alfred) to College of William and Mary staff in the early 1990s. Also included are news clippings, copies of cartoons by Reid, photographs of unidentified, perhaps scientific or medial, equipment dated 1970-1971, and 2 photographic slides from a 1958 William and Mary football game, one of the athletes and the other of the band.
