Scrapbook, 1914-1915, of Walter Aylen which documents the early life of his daughter Mary Aylen. Primarily includes photographs of Mary Aylen at various stages of her first three years of life as well as diary entries written by Walter Aylen that document his reaction to having a child.
Walter B. Anderson Diaries

Joel Ward Military Appointment
Appointment of Joel Ward as a Captain of a Troop of Cavalry in the Third Regiment and Third Division of the Militia in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Signed by William H. Cabell, Governor. September 6, 1806. "Berkeley" is noted on the bottom. On the reverse is written "Joel Ward was duly sworn to act under and did act under the within commission untill after the war with England declared by the US in the year 1812, ...year 1816 he resigned."

Warlow Photograph Collection
Warlow collection of cabinet photographs of 18th to early 20th century well known people including celebrities, influential families, and Civil War figures. The photographs of 18th century subjects are of their portraits. Identification is by the collector or original owner, usually in pencil on the reverse side.
Photographs were taken mostly in Richmond, Virginia, but many studios were in New Orleans, Georgia, South Carolina, West Virginia and other locations.

Letters to Bertha Warren from her stepmother, Frances M. Warren, of Hartford County, Connecticut, and her friend, Edith Adam of Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. Bertha Warren is a deaf student, about 20 years old, who attends the Mystic Oral School, later changed to Whipple Home School, in Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. The letters talk of skills that Bertha must learn, especially her art work, her activities, school and news from home.
