Contains one legal document signed "B. Wentworth." Addresses the complaints of a widow whose husband died in the War of Jenkins' Ear. Document demands the widow be paid her missing subsistence payments and all related contingencies.

Biographical / Historical

The legal document is signed by Benning Wentworth (1696-1770). The document advocates for the interests of a military widow, who claims to have never recieved the subsistence payments for her husband's service during the War of Jenkins' Ear. The war, which lasted from 1739-1748, arose between Britain and Spain. It was fought in New Granada and the Caribbean Sea. The War of Jenkins' Ear ended in an eventual defeat for the British forces.
