Appointment of Joel Ward as a Captain of a Troop of Cavalry in the Third Regiment and Third Division of the Militia in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Signed by William H. Cabell, Governor. Bertha Warren is a deaf student, about 20 years old, who attends the Mystic Oral School, later changed to Whipple Home School, in Mystic, New London County, Connecticut.
