Letters include correspondence between Nathaniel Francis Cabell and Chiswell Dabney. Letters discuss life in Nelson County, agriculture, slavery, milling, and other subjects.

Ledger of a blacksmith from Mount Olive, Shenandoah County, Virginia, 1860-1870, recording accounts with customers for such services as shoeing horses, repairing shears and wagons, etc.
The name 'William O. Towns' is written several times in the front and back cover of the volume, suggesting that he may have been the one who kept the ledger.
Names of customers are indexed in the back.

Letters, 1783-1800, written by William Pringle to his brother John Pringle, a tailor in Georgetown [District of Columbia]. William Pringle carried a seed business in America with his brother acting as agent. Other subjects discussed in letters include the new city of Washington; the war between France and England; politics and the economy in America and England; and the sending of William Pringle's son to America to apprentice as a tailor.
William Reese Letter
Letter from William Reese to his wife dated May 4, 1862. Reese was a soldier in the Union Army attached to Co. B. of the 103rd Penn. Volunteers. In his letter, Reese describes the manner in which the Confederate troops evacuated the Yorktown area and how the Union "flag is now waving on the heights of Yorktown."

The postcard states that "we are to get exceptionally good chow this week . . . this morning we had pork chops and for noon chow we had turkey and lots of it." The front of the postcard is of the football stadium at "William and Mary College" in Williamsburg, Va.
