Scope and Contents

A Presidential land grant for Abraham C. and Meacon A. Shelton of Lincoln County, Missouri. The grant was signed by President John Tyler and his son Robert Tyler. The grant referred to the Shelton's making a full payment for eighty acres "subject to sale in Palmyra, Missouri." The grant was under the provisions of the Land Act of 1820, which ended the ability to purchase the United States' public domain lands on a credit or installment system over four years, as previously established.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The papers of Marie Katherine and Oliver Seegelken consist of a 1934 diary of the couple's South American sea voyage kept by Marie Seegelken, and of love letters between husband and wife, 1918, 1943, and undated. During WWI, Oliver Seegelken served in the USNRF (United States Naval Reserve Force) in San Pedro, California.The diary is filled not only with an account of each day, but with hand-drawn illustrations of passengers, crew, and ports.  Marie Seegelken also wrote vignettes...

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This collection contains materials from the welcome given to former Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter when they arrived for their presidential debate at William & Mary. The collection contains newspaper articles about the event as well as plans and meeting minutes created for the organization of the event. In addition, details regarding the creation and erection of the "Welcome Jimmy and Jerry" banner are included.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Williamsburg, Virginia items given by Will Molineux, mostly via the Williamsburg Historic Records Association. Some items are personal papers (newspaper articles, etc.) of Will Molineux. The photograph collection covers the entire Williamsburg area, including James City County and York County. Subjects include people, places, buildings, events, Colonial Williamsburg as well as the College of William & Mary.
