The official Naval record of Rear Admiral Alvin Duke Chandler (1902-1987). Chandler served as the President of the College of William and Mary from 1951- 1960, then as Chancellor from 1962-1974. These papers document the full naval career of Chandler (1925- 1951) including duty assignments, disciplinary reports, correspondence for his official file, and career biographies. The naval report does not include any fitness reports which are usually part of a Naval Officer's official record. There are, however, correspondence and recommendations on behalf of Chandler for advancement and also reports of naval battles in which Chandler commanded as the Commander of the Destroyer Division during World War II.
