Marilyn Kaemmerle Collection

Scope and Contents A scrapbook of newspaper articles and other loose clippings in response to a February 7, 1945 Flat Hat editorial, "Lincoln's Job Half-Done," by Marilyn Kaemmerle, then the Flat Hat's editor-in-chief. Kaemmerle advocated for racial equality and integration, particularly at William & Mary. Her editorial piece received a wide response both on campus and across the United States, leading to her removal from the Flat Hat staff and a temporary suspension ordered by the Board of Visitors....

Scope and Contents This collection includes material gathered by then William and Mary student Eleanor Harvey related to the christening of the  SS William and Mary Victory  on April 20, 1945. Photographs, news clippings, scrapbook, and the wooden chest holding the broken champagne bottle used in the launch are available. Vergilian Bimillennium Celebration Records

Scope and Contents

Acc. 1980.022 contains a scrapbook from the Vergilian Bimillennium Celebration held at the College in 1930. Includes photographs, clippings, a program, a script, and correspondence. The scrapbook measures 9" x 11".

This collection also includes programs from the celebration of the classical Roman Poet Vergil's 2000th birthday at the College of William & Mary. The inventory for these records is available in the box list section of this finding aid.
