Scope and Contents Two letters written by George Frederick Holmes to Rector of the Board of Visitors at William & Mary, Robert McCandlish. Both are dated August 14, 1848. The first letter informs McCandlish that Holmes has just learned of his election as President of the new University of Mississippi and that he will write his resignation letter as soon as his daughter's health improves.
