Letter concerns having eaten wild fowl sent by the recipient and the use of buckles to bring his feet into "humane [sic] shape, which are as long as any munkys [monkey's ?]." The letter is dated "February 17 1741/2," noting the different calendar used by the English during this time, in which the new year didn't begin until Lady Day (March 25).

William Cocke Commission as Secretary of the Colony of Virginia by George I. Original and typed transcription. Original glued to cardboard backing. Original has 3 paper seals. Dated as the first year of the reign of George I and mentions that "the late Royal Sister Queen Anne...at Westminster the five and twentieth day of January in her 10 year of her reign give and grant...William Cocke...the office and place of Secretary of and in her colony of Virginia."

Photocopy of the certication of incorporation of the Order of the First Families of Virginia, 1607-1620, with accompanying correspondence designating the College of William and Mary as the home of the Charter. Also included is a document signed by George M. Bryant, Jr., of the State Corporation Commission, which verified that the photocopy was a true copy of the charter.
