Joan Worstell Carter Papers
This collection is composed of two scrapbooks; a collection of costume designs for plays; two volumes of costume drawings done for a costume history class; and one volume (marked volume III) containing pictures of paintings done for an art history class. The scrapbooks include news clippings, photographs, programs and related material from various College of William and Mary events and organizations including Department of Theater productions and the Canterbury Association.
Miles L. Chappell, Jr. Papers
This collection consists of the personal papers of Miles L. Chappell, Jr., a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the College of William and Mary. The papers contain correspondence between Prof. Chappell and other staff in the Department of Fine Arts; subject files; a scrapbook of clippings about the Department of Fine Arts; and photographs and negative of various Department of Fine Arts events.
Leslie Cheek, Jr. College Papers
This collection contains awards, publicity material, songs, articles, speeches, and photographs that once belonged to College of William and Mary professor Leslie Cheek. The bulk of the material is from 1936 to 1938, and most of the material relates to the various exhibits put on by the Department of Fine Arts. The photographs are from theatre productions, dances, and exhibits at William and Mary.
Dean of Arts and Sciences Records
The collection contains minutes, by-laws, correspondence, and subject files from Arts and Sciences. Included in the collection are Faculty Minutes from 1926 to the present; American Culture Cluster lectures; by-laws; and material from various committees. Also present in the collection is correspondence from the Dean, as well as subject files on degree requirements, the Sharpe Community Partnership Program, and other topics.
Department of Art and Art History Records
This collection consists of fliers and newsletters from the Department of Art and Art History at the College of William and Mary. Included in the collection are fliers for exhibits at the Andrews Gallery.
Department of Fine Arts records
The records of the Department of Fine Arts at William & Mary includes office files, publications and photographs. Office files primarily from the years Professor Thomas Thorne was chair during the mid-20th century, a modern painting notebook, and publications including fliers, exhibit catalogs, newsletters, and other material.
Self Study Records
Stephen Snell Papers, 1960-1964
This collection contains a copy of "Portraits in the President's House," an essay Snell wrote for Fine Arts 306. The text of the essay is interleaved with copies of the portraits being discussed. Acc. 2011.671 contains notes from various classes Snell took at the College of William & Mary, including English, History, and French classes. There are also notes from courses Snell took at Boston University.
