Francis T. Brooke Letter
This collection consists of a letter written by Francis T. Brooke in St. Julien, Virginia concerning the political climate of Virginia in relation to the presidential elections of 1820 and 1824. Brooke describes fractures and shifts in party support, and interprets the reasons for Virginia's support of William Crawford in the election of 1824. The letter is addressed to a Mr. Loring.

Robert Brooke Letter to John Norton and Sons
One page letter about Brooke's business difficulties in selling tobacco and recent bankruptcies in the area. He writes to acknowledge two receipts of Norton's and regrets that he cannot pay his debts currently as his tobacco is not selling. In lieu of current payment, he sent an amount of his tobacco. He also writes that he hopes his economic prospects will improve and he will pay his debt back.

Two-page letter sending condolences regarding the loss of Captain Davis. The letter also addresses trade negotiations, as they pertain to sugar, and the attempt to ensure that their arrival into ports does not negatively impact the value of the various ship's goods.
