Society for the College records
The Society for the College records contains materials related to 2007's Wren Cross Controversy, or the decision to remove and then replace, the brass cross from William & Mary's Wren Chapel. Four yellow buttons with green lettering read: "One College, Under Glass" with a cross, feathers, and thinking man statue in silhouette, "The New William & Mary." Also included is one package of green napkins wrapped in cellophane, with "End of an Error" printed in gold.

Some Aspects and Incidents of Military Rule in Portsmouth, Virginia, from the Letter Book of Captain Daniel Messinger, Provost Marshal of Portsmouth
This collection is a typed carbon copy of the letterbook of Captain Daniel Messinger, Provost Marshall of Portsmouth, dated November 9, 1863 to June 27, 1864. It contains correspondence between Messinger and various military personell including Brigadier General Wild, Brigadier General Barnes, General Butler, Colonel Shaffer, Colonel Holman, as well as Portsmouth's Mayor Collins. Photographs are included in the copy. It was transcribed by Jno. C. Emmerson, Jr. in 1946.

Diary, 1933-1937, of Bertha Spandauer, a teenager from Baltimore, Maryland. Primarily concerns her days at school and her social life, including people with whom she goes on dates. She also describes parties to which she goes and how much alcohol she drinks. She also describes an illness that she has and the steps taken to cure it, including pumping her stomach. She eventually becomes engaged to and marries Jules Mornstein in 1937.

Two letters from Fred to his brother Charles from Camp Young in Guahajay, Cuba dated February 5 and 23 1899. Fred was assigned to the 202nd Regiment of the New York Volunteers. He describes his hope that the Cuban fighters will not put up a fight and his hope that he will be able to soon come home.
