Re: an epidemic of yellow fever on his ship which he attributes to the removal of the bellows air pump which had been removed from his ship at the last overhaul. "It is the invention of Commo. Barron . . . I consider it a thorough safe guard from local fever, and shall not willingly go to sea without one."
