Letter dated 1862 April 18 from Camp on Chessman's Creek addressed to his parents. Everett was in "I" company of the 7th New Jersey Volunteers, 3rd Brigade of Hooker's Division. He describes his unit's travel to Norfolk and then the Yorktown area and the anticipation of a hard battle with the Confederate troops who are assumed to be numerous and well fortified.

Two letters from Fred to his brother Charles from Camp Young in Guahajay, Cuba dated February 5 and 23 1899. Fred was assigned to the 202nd Regiment of the New York Volunteers. He describes his hope that the Cuban fighters will not put up a fight and his hope that he will be able to soon come home.

He writes in the hope that he may secure a position from President-Elect Franklin Pierce within his new administration as Pierce was sworn in as President just a few days later. In the letter, Meenan also requests that should he receive a political appointment, that it come early in Pierce's Administration.

The writing on the card stock indicates that the three were Senior Property Manager, Partner, and Assistant Manager, respectively. The name of the establishment was Appilu Beer Parlor in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Fanny's husband, Henry is in the military and she describes life on the base, her home, the surrounding area of Hampton, Virginia, and the weather. She also gives details about the abundance or lack of specific foods and comments at length on the economic conditions of the community in her new area.

Hand written receipt signed by J. M. Martin of an agreement for him to pay Sally A. H. Hunter two hundred and seventy dollars for the hire of Joe, Austin, and Beverly, slaves owned by her, for work on his farm for the year 1862. In addition, Martin agreed to clothe them well, and return them with a hat and blanket each at the end of the year.
