Scope and Contents Sam Robinson was an African-American man who served as sexton of Jamestown Church and a guide at Jamestown from the mid-1930s until his death in 1965. He became famous for his story "The Morther-in-Lae Tree," which he recited for Queen Elizabeth of England during her 1957 visit to Jamestown.
