This collection contains a substantial record of the administrative aspects of the Alumni Band Organization (ABO). Although the bulk of the records are related to this aspect of the ABO, the records are incomplete in several areas. However, the organization is in the process of collecting their records for donation to the University Archives and these gaps will likely be filled in the future. The records of the group are exhaustive in regards to the newsletters published by the group. However, the concert programs, photographs, and assorted ephemera are also incomplete at this time.
Acc. 2008.105 is the files of Jim Anthony, which are not currently arranged and described here.
Acc. 2010.142 contains clippings, correspondence, membership rosters, policies and procedures, and line formations of the Alumni Band Organization at William & Mary from 1990 to 2002. These records were collected by drum major Jim Anthony.

The Alumni Band Organization (ABO) was founded in 1986 as a special interest alumni group and a support group for the current band program. The Board of Directors, as of January 1, 1994, officially granted the ABO constituent status. This group is dedicated to preserving alumni connections with the College Band program. This group is composed of William and Mary alumni and faculty who participated in or were affiliated with the band program during their time here at the College. Those who are affiliates include majorettes and flag team members and band leaders.
The ABO remains active by hosting receptions after concerts, responding to the needs of the band director, continuing homecoming performances and activities, and providing important service to the William and Mary Alumni Association. To support outstanding band members the ABO started the Charles R. Varner Scholarship Endowment, which has been awarded. It was named for Charles Varner to show appreciation for his contributions to the William and Mary band and to provide assistance to promising young musicians in furthering their education at the College.
