Scope and Contents
Jeffrey B. Trammell's papers document his work as National Chair of Business Outreach and liaison for gay and lesbian constituents for the Al Gore/Joe Lieberman presidential campaign of 2000. The collection does not contain information regarding Jeffrey Trammell's personal life or his time serving as College of William and Mary's Rector.
Correspondence between Trammell and his colleagues demonstrate the role he played in fundraising for the Gore campaign, as well as his political activism regarding equal rights for gay and lesbian citizens. Newspaper and magazine articles collected by Jeffrey Trammell depict public opinion on the Gore campaign and LGBTQ issues, while campaign literature focuses on Gore's stance of equal rights for the LGBTQ community.
Internal documents, such as campaign business and fundraising planning documents, agendas, manuals, speeches, research notes on LGBTQ rights, donor lists, and endorsements, provide insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes in a presidential campaign and the work conducted by Jeffrey Trammell in an effort to elect Gore for president. Handwritten notes by Trammell are included, largely consisting of 'To-Do' lists, campaign plans, and business contacts.
Memorabilia has been removed from the collection, including Gore campaign buttons and bumper stickers, as well as "John Kerry for President" stickers and added to Artifacts collection.
