A certificate from Virginia's State Board of Education, dated September 21, 1923, certifying that Charlotte Miles Shipman is authorized to teach English, history, and Latin in public schools. It is signed by the Supervisor of Teacher-Training, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and endorsed by the Division Superintendent of Newport News. The reverse side is Shipman's school record for her four years at William & Mary. It includes the number of weeks and hours per week per class, as well as the number of units she earned per subject in high school. It does not include her grades.
