Scope and Contents

This collection contains magazine pictures used by Department of Theatre, Speech, and Dance professor Roger Sherman to inspire his stage designs for productions of the College of William and Mary Theatre.  Topics that are present in the pictures include various geographic areas and their people, paintings, elements such as water and fire, and fashion from different time periods and locations.

Biographical Information:

Roger Sherman was Chair of the Department of Theatre and Speech at the College of William and Mary. He also began writing a history of the Twentieth Century (This Century Gallery) of Williamsburg, Virginia.
