Scope and Contents

January to Late June.  Lives in Missouri with his parents until late June. Travels to New York and Washington, D.C. in late spring. On July 1, he takes “charge of the American Church of the Ascension” in Munich, Germany.  In Munich he also studied at the university library and visited the American and British consulates.  In spite of not mentioning anything about World War II in diary, in later years he gave talks about the beginning of the War in Munich. October 5, Resigns as rector of The Church of the Ascension.  Returns to New York via Italy, sailing on the S.S. Conte di Savoia, then travels to Missouri.
