This is to continue his letter from the previous day; does not remember Mr, Gilbert being at his house; was impressed by the "Young Man" from England; Mr. Maxwell has the Gout; wishes he was able to write to his friends more often; wrote to his [WM] Aunt Benjamin with the intent of helping her son; will tell him about bills that have been consigned to them; approves of his idea to write to Gladstone; wants to know which of the consuls in England has the most of a certain kind of invoice; has heard that some British consuls in America say he gets £50 for everyship; saw Mr. Buchannan, but did not have time to dine with him. 2pp. AL Bearns ANS from James Maury, Liverpool.
