Scope and Contents

1-blue circular patch with an open figure "8" in gold. There are golden wings on either side of the "8." Inside the bottom part of the "8" is a white star that has a red center. This patch was a shoulder insignia used by the United States Army Air Corps and belonged to Armand J. Galfo, U.S. Air Force Reserves officer and Assistant Dean of the School of Education at the College of William and Mary between 1965 and 1966. The patch measures approximately 2.75in. and is in fair condition. The patch has two approximately 0.25in. loose threads at the top center and top right side. The white star inside the bottom part of the “8” has suffered some discoloration and fading, also there is a loose red thread in the middle of the star. The back of the patch has white residue, possibly from a plastic coating. Transferred from the Armand J. Galfo Papers. Located in UA Textiles. UA 2007.063.08
