Scope and Contents

One green and yellow metal button pin created for the Dixie Bowl football game played in Birmingham, AL on January 1, 1948 against Arkansas. The pin features two footballs at top and bottom with the text 'WILLIAM & MARY / DIXIE BOWL" in the center. Two silk ribbons, one green and one yellow, and a tan piece of cotton string are affixed to the button back and hang below the button. A piece of white paper with text indicating W&M's losing score, 'ARK: 21 / W&M: 19' is taped to the back of the button. The pin is in good condition with minor spots of rust on the reverse. Both ribbons are slightly discolored with minor fraying on the bottom edges. Green ribbon has approximately 0.0625in. hole. Button is 1.75in. in diameter; total length with ribbons is 4.625in. Transferred from Alumni Association. Located in Dec Obj S2, SS1. UA 2011.557
