Scope and Contents
Bateman's Senate Joint Resolution 181, 1979. award Navy's Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) to Newport News Shipbuilding, letters sent (as a result of joint resolution) to Virginia's congressional delegation, correspondence between Bateman and Newport News Shipyard officials and with members of US House and Senate Armed Forces Committee members, including such figures as Senators Barry Goldwater and John Tower.
