Copy of article “The Shipyard Monument” by Alexander Crosby Brown, historian and literary editor of the Daily Press, written in 1984 critical of Tenneco’s removal of the Huntington Memorial. At the time, this was a cause celebre and Brown was so determined that his opinionated article be saved he temporarily deposited in the safe of Congressman Thomas N. Downing (see note in his handwriting on page 1. Unknown if this article was published in the Daily Press, but certainly shorter versions were.
