Wash drawing of the Brafferton, Wren Building, and President's House, circa 1840

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 12

Scope and Contents

A pencil drawing with black ink wash on paper by Thomas Millington, circa 1840. The drawing consists of four sheets of paper, overlaid and attached together.

The drawing depicts William & Mary's Historic Campus, including the Brafferton, Wren Building, and President's House. Also featured is the original Lord Botetourt statue with fencing surrounding it. It is likely that this early wash drawing served as an inspiration for the lithograph of William & Mary's Historic Campus, commonly known as the "Millington print."

This drawing was transferred from the University Archives Artifact Collection (UA 13) to the Thomas Millington Collection (MS 00306) on July 29, 2019.
