Reproduction of lithograph, undated

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 4

Scope and Contents

An early monochrome photomechanical reproduction print of the lithograph "William and Mary College at Williamsburg, Va." on wove paper, based on drawings by Thomas Millington. Undated.

The print depicts William & Mary's Historic Campus, including the Brafferton, Wren Building, and President's House. In the foreground of the print, men in formal attire socialize in the Wren Courtyard, among cattle and the original statue of Lord Botetourt. The lithographic image is often referred to as simply the "Millington Print."

At the bottom margin, the image's title is printed, followed by a short description: "This View is respectfully inscribed to the President and Faculty, the Visitors Alumni and Students of that venerable Institution by their very obedt. Servt. / Thos. Ch. Millington."

The paper used for this copy of the Millington Print is slightly smaller than other reproductions in the collection.

No publication information supplied on the print.
