Looked at State Department letters of General Washington concerning Major Andre; restoration of naval officers to active status; concert for benefit of poor; accident to Hugh Blair Grigsby (run over by omnibus while crossing Broad St. in Richmond); intimate friendship of George Tucker and Grigsby; description of various springs; met Reverand Barnwell who has declined presidency of William and Mary; engagement of Mary Eliza Whittle to James Julius Sams; and death of Mrs. Tazewell.
