Diary, 1877-1884, of Edmund Dean of South Dakota. Includes description of Dean's life at college, his marriage, the birth of his children, the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, and other current events. There is also an account of his move from Iowa to South Dakota, including interaction with others on the road. Dean also describes a lecture that he attended that was led by Eliza Stewart, one of the leaders of the Temperance movement.

Diary, 1931, of Dorothy Vick, a sixteen year old woman living in Alta Vista, Iowa. Vick attended a Catholic school and attends her local church most Sundays. Entrires are typically a few sentences long and deal with the events of that day. Includes entries about dances which she attended, going to confession at her church, movies that she saw, and her relationships. Vick often writes that she wishes that she could write what she truly thinks and that she wishes she could lock her diary.

Scope and Contents Diaries, 1930-1931 of Dorothy Lee Willmering (b. circa 1915) of Columbus City, Louisa County, Iowa. Dorothy, who was about 15 when she started her diaries, lived with her mother and older sister. Dorothy mentions visiting her father (her parents were divorced) and receiving letters from him.
