Gilkerson in Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia about his trip from Augusta to Cincinnati, Ohio.  He is currently in Memphis, Tennessee.  "There was 1035 miles i rode in a cart and i was very sick all the way through...arrived at Cincinnati....I have had one of my toes taken off since I've been here..."  August 30, 1852.
