Scope and Contents Collection includes materials related to the Lane and Cole families of Williamsburg, Virginia including wills, voting ballots, property reciepts, deeds, photographs, contracts, estate documents, invitations, diaries, and correspondence. The materials detail the political, economic and social issues in Williamsburg during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Five dis-bound sections of a ledger kept by Ellyson Currie (1780-1829), a lawyer in Lancaster County, Virginia, 1820- 1824.  Records are for fees, deed recordings, and payments received for various accounts.  Currie was a large land owner, attorney,  and judge who served in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Two page letter from Green Springs plantation in Williamsburg, Va. regarding a land transaction between Lee and Colonel Fairfax. Lee regrets the delay but notes that once he is home and in front of the mentioned papers that he will settle their transaction at that time. A transcription is included with the letter.
