Charles Homer McCutchen World War II Cartoons
Fourteen satirical cartoons created by Charles Homer McCutchen, a United States Army private serving in World War II. McCutchen was a resident of Chicago, and worked after the war as a painter and a freelance artist. The cartoons in this group feature commentary on military life, as well as politics.

Civil War Collection
G. Gregg Cartoon
A pen and ink cartoon drawing (9 1/2" x 14") depicting G. Gregg's impressions of a visit to the College in 1941. Also includes two black and white glossy reproductions of the cartoon ( 4 1/2" x 7" and 2 3/4" x 3 3/4").
Galt Papers (III-A)
Papers of Alexander Galt, Jr. and his family. Mostly correspondence but also includes contracts, financial records, diaries, notebooks, sculptures and ephemera. Most items written to, or by, Alexander Galt, Jr. when he was living in Florence, Italy. Alexander Galt's sketchbook which includes photograph of Galt's sketch of General Stonewall Jackson.
Gamma Phi Beta (Alpha Chi Chapter) records
Collection includes materials documenting the daily activities of Gamma Phi Beta (Alpha Chi Chapter). Materials include pages from a scrapbook that contain stereotypical caricatures of east Asian and Native American people as well as derogatory language regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Collection also includes photographs of culturally insensitive events held in Sorority Court.
George Colt political cartoon
Print of German and English language political cartoon on newsprint by George Colt satirizing William & Mary's efforts to seek restitution from damages to campus sustained during the Civil War. In 1893 the U.S. government paid William & Mary for damages. The College is depicted as a "rebel claims monster." The print is undated, but was likely printed between 1890-1895.
Maryann R. Goodwyn Scrapbook
Scrapbook, ca. 1851-1870, of Maryann R. Goodwyn, Sappony, Va. which contains notes on geography and verse, newspaper clippings and a few cartoons relating to the American Civil War.
H. (Harold Alfred) Reid Papers
The bulk of the collection is correspondence from H. Reid (Harold Alfred) to College of William and Mary staff in the early 1990s. Also included are news clippings, copies of cartoons by Reid, photographs of unidentified, perhaps scientific or medial, equipment dated 1970-1971, and 2 photographic slides from a 1958 William and Mary football game, one of the athletes and the other of the band.

Scrapbook of newspaper clippings, circa 1890s, predominantly cartoons and satire of a political nature. The clippings are glued into a ledger, but hardly any of its content is sufficiently legible to identify the business and the location.
William T. Coulter Cartoon
A cartoon, 5" by 8", drawn by William J. Coulter to accompany an article about the Virginia law regarding car window decals. The cartoon depicts a William and Mary car decal. The news story is also included.
