Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Printed issued bond number 9434 authorized by the act of Congress of the Confederate States for the amount of $500 in order to fund the treasury of the Confederacy. The interest notes, of seven percent, were due semi-annually to the bond holder beginning Jan 1, 1865. At the center of the bond is a drawing of an encamped Confederate soldier and the bottom depicts a steamship and locomotive, with the company Archer & Dely, Richmond, Va.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Handwritten document written in Latin, dated November 6, 1574.  First line begins with a hand drawn picture of Queen Elizabeth.  Top border is decorated with drawings of lions, flowers and dragons.  Broken seal is attached to the bottom.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The collection consists of two love letters written by George Ellis to Ursula Pleasants and their marriage contract.

The marriage contract states that George Ellis is the son of John and "Cathrine" Ellis of "Old England," and that Ursula Pleasants is the daughter of John and Susanna Pleasants of Henrico County, Virginia. It is dated July 10, 1766 and signed by 26 members of the Quakers of Virginia.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection consists of a monthly report book for Rupert School No. 4, South Bend District (Armstrong County, Pa.) for the years 1879-1889. On the front cover, the school is also referred to as "Clayton or Girty." it appears to have been a one-room school with roughly 50 students between 5-15 years old. Commission of Nicholas Fitzhugh as assistant Circuit Court judge for the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.). It is signed by U. S. President Thomas Jefferson and Secretary of State James Madison. The collection also includes a contemporary copy of the document.
