Scope and Contents From the Collection: Handwritten account entitled "Remarkable Dream of a Moravian Sister," written by an unknown author. Begins with her mother telling her that she will come back and visit her daughter after she dies, if it is permitted. The author's mother died on September 21, 1760, and about 10 days later the author recounts a dream that she had. Appointment of Joel Ward as a Captain of a Troop of Cavalry in the Third Regiment and Third Division of the Militia in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Signed by William H. Cabell, Governor. September 6, 1806. "Berkeley" is noted on the bottom. On the reverse is written "Joel Ward was duly sworn to act under and did act under the within commission untill after the war with England declared by the US in the year 1812, ...year 1816 he resigned."
