Biographical / Historical

Originally created in 2007 by Annie Brown (Class of 2010), Ashley Poling (Class of 2009), Janet King (Class of 2010), and Sarah Ruth Goldman (Class of 2009) as as final project for their Intro to Gender, Sexuality and Women's studies class, "Lips: Expressions of Female Sexuality" grew from a zine into a student organization and social media platform that continued to publish zines until 2013. As the first campus publication focused on the importance of female sexuality, Lips initially received backlash for encouraging students to voice their own opinions and experiences regarding sex. In 2022, Joey Houska (Class of 2024) and Simmi Cilluffo (Class of 2022) restarted Lips as a social club and zine publication now simply titled "Lips."
