Scope and Contents

This collection contains diaries as well as holiday letters kept by Chandi J. Singer, former Swem Library staff member at William & Mary. Some of the topics discussed in the diaries include dancing at various clubs in Las Vegas, Nevada and Scottsdale, Arizona, college classes, and going to concerts among others. The diaries have been transcribed by the author. Some of the holiday letters include brief biographies and articles about the authors. Additions to the collection include events attended at William and Mary, a directory of Williamsburg businesses from the mid 1990's, Temple Beth El Membership Directory for 2009-2010, campaign materials for Barack Obama's Presidential run in 2008, and pug related artifacts.

Conditions Governing Access:

Before using the diary or any of the holiday letters in exhibits, Special Collections must have permission of the donor. Researchers must use the diary in the reading room for a period of 10 years. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, such as the Virginia Public Records Act (Code of Virginia. § 42.1-76-91); and the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Code of Virginia § 2.2-3705.5). Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. If sensitive material is found in this collection, please contact a staff member immediately. Acc. 2012.417 was hand-delivered to Special Collections by the donor on 12/14/2012. Acquisition information for material received after 7/13/2009 is available by consulting a Special Collections Research Center staff member. Accruals include Acc. 2012.417, Acc. 2013.068, and Acc. 2013.273. Acc. 2016.104 was hand-delivered by the donor in 6/2016. Accession 2017.011 was hand delivered to SCRC by the donor in January, 2017.
