This score is signed by the composer, Jeraldine Saunders Herbison. It was commissioned by the 50th Commemoration Committee in honor of the 50th anniversary of African Americans in Residence at William & Mary. It officially premiered at Commencement on May 12, 2018, sung by the W&M Choir.
To prepare, the Choir performed the work during their Spring Tour and again at the Spring Choral Concert. A CD featuring two Choir recordings of the piece was transferred to the W&M Choir records.
