Papers of the Jamestowne Society. Includes correspondence, notices of meetings, minutes of meetings, lists of seventeenth century inhabitants of Jamestown, and lists of members. The collection also contains papers of George Craghead Gregory, founder of the Jamestowne Society. There is biographical material about Gregory as well as his correspondence; drafts of articles written by him about Jamestown; photographs and negatives of Jamestown buildings and maps; plats of lots around Jamestown; blueprints of maps of Jamestown; copies of seventeenth and eighteenth century maps of Jamestown; twentieth century maps of Jamestown; and navigation charts of the James River near Jamestown. There are two works compiled by Gregory. The first is James City & Island in three volumes which concerns early land patents near Jamestown and the site of the first fort. The second is Early Virginians, 1607-1704.

The Jamestowne Society was founded by George Craghead Gregory in 1936 for descendants of stockholders in the London Company and in the Virginia Company and the descendants of those who owned land or who had domiciles in Jamestown or on Jamestown Island prior to the year 1700.
