Scope and Contents "Kissing Marfa" is a short opera in one scene for chorus and soloists with chamber orchestra. It is based on Anton Chekhov's short story, "A Slander". Collection includes the libretto by Claudia Stevens and the piano- vocal score by composer Allen Shearer. Its premiere is March 25, 2016 by the East Bay Singers at California State University, East Bay, to whom the work is dedicated.
