Includes handwritten notes and portraits of Henry Clay (dated 1846) and Sir Robert Peel (undated). Materials cover the antebellum, Civil War, and postbellum periods, with correspondence between family members in North Carolina, New York, and Great Britain. Topics include Civil War blockade runs, religion, literature, international politics, and family matters.
