Glad he is enjoying engineering; Charles Campbell shouldn't expect to find a wife as smart as himself; hopes "the sable coloured gentry in Jerusalem will not rise again" but the whites there "are not much better than the blacks". Also: Note from Elizabeth M. Campbellto Charles Campbell. Mr. Barraud in town; Charles Campbell working on railroad and "will indeed be welcomed as a traitor to your town, working on a road to destroy it".
