[Thomas?] Bold has just told him of her arrival and showed him Rutson Maury's letter which described her efforts to learn something of his son; he [his son Johnny] rode out to look at some boats; two hours later, his horse was seen without a rider; the last latter he got from home was from his wife after Dabney Maury gave up hope of finding out anything else; would like to come see her, but that would be impractical, as he is seen leaving for France soon; sends regards to the Bolds. 4pp. ALS [Letter has black mourning border.] Including N undated.
