Letters of Lanetta Merriweather, an African American who joined the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps in World War II. From Texas, she was a graduate of Sam Houston College and served as a teacher in civilian life.  Her husband, Lee Merriweather also served in the Army during World War II.  Most of the letters are between her and her spouse.  There are also letters from family members, one in particular detailing a house fire that claimed the lives of all of her cousin's children.
