Collection is open to all researchers. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, such as the Virginia Public Records Act (Code of Virginia. § 42.1-76-91); and the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Code of Virginia § 2.2-3705.5). General

Regular meeting minutes are restricted for 20 years except to current members in good standing of the Williamsburg chapter. Permission for current members in good standing to access minutes from the last 20 years must be granted in advance in writing or email to spcoll@wm.edu by the current Regent or Recording Secretary. A current roster of Board members shall be provided by the Regent to the library at the change of each office term or when updates occur.

Executive Board Minutes may only be accessed by the current Regent or Recording Secretary.

The current chapter Regent may make a written request to borrow material from the Williamsburg DAR collection two (2) times in a calendar year and/or at the new officer's induction meeting. Requests for a private viewing of materials in the Special Collections area of the library for special chapter events may be made in writing by the chapter regent to the Director of the Special Collections Research Center.
