Arrived in Detroit "the second of October after a long and tedious march of about 30 days from camp Seneca. The 27th Regiment has taken quarters in this place for this Winter which was very lucky for the officers having lost all their clothing." Has been sick with bilious fever. Learning duties of a Lieutenant.
