Scope and Contents His inspection of the Navy Yard at Portsmouth, England and his visits to iron works at Merthy and Tydril, where the proprietors were quite secretive about their processes; he reports a visit to Newstead Abbey, the former home of Lord Byron, with accounts of the house, the tomb of Byron, and some of his possessions; he is headed for visits to the collieries in Newcastle and Scotland.
